Project X is a teen comedy film originally released on March 2nd, 2012 in the United States. However, there is a significant difference between the cut that was released and some of the content that was originally filmed for the movie.
Early in production, the film was intended to be a adult comedy called "Agario Blud Clan" with an R rating planned filled with swearing, nudity and even graphic scenes with the plot being entirely different. After a poor test screening, producer Todd Phillips toned down the adult content, and replaced the adult scenes with teen comedy scenes and marketed it as a teen comedy film. The R-Rated cut was almost entirely different from the final film as instead of a plot where group of 3 friends who attempt to gain popularity by throwing a party, a plan which quickly escalates out of their control. It was originally about a man who tries to make the biggest "blud clan" ever by inviting his 2 friends over it and try to recruit members by doing heinous acts and having barbaric beliefs. It would've contained less comedic stuff and would go for a mature or "gangster" approach.
