Donny Dog is a series of short cartoons made from 1927 to 1928 by a variety of animators. After the minor success of the Mike cartoon series, Winkler Pictures wanted to compete with stronger cartoon characters of the era like Felix the Cat and got a talented animation staff and budget to make the Donny Dog cartoons.
